Manual Lymph Drainage is a gentle and rhythmical massage technique which can be helpful in both preventative self care and treatment of many pathologies. Manual Lymph Drainage is designed to increase the movement of lymph and interstitial fluid within your body by stimulating the lymph vessels. The lymphatic system filters and breaks down bacteria and cell debris and eliminates them from your body. It is also responsible for transporting water and protein to the cardiovascular system and is a very important part of your immune system.
Some of the benefits of lymphatic massage are: pain relief, decrease in swelling, promote “normal” range of motion, inhibit scar formation, reduce recovery and healing time, promote restful sleep, general detoxification and enhanced immune function. Some of the pathologies that can be helped by manual lymph drainage are: post traumatic edema, post surgical edema, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, sinus congestion, palliative care and lymphedema.
I became a Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist in June of 2009. I was certified by Klose Training in the Vodder Method of Manual Lymph Drainage. In 2016 I completed training by the Vodder School in Neck and Face Manual Lymph Drainage and in 2017 became a Clinical Wellness Therapist through the Vodder School.
